Motorsport makes a difference in Manawatū
Motorsport isn’t just about speed and competition, it’s also about community. Last week, the Manawatu Car Club proudly demonstrated how motorsport can drive meaningful change beyond the track.
The Club handed over a donation of $7,206.40 to Manchester House Social Services, a Feilding-based charity supporting individuals and families affected by substance abuse and addiction. The funds were raised through donations collected across the Club’s 2024 season of Race, ClubSport, and Drift events.
The donation will directly support rehabilitation initiatives that address addiction, an underlying factor in many of the mental health, crime, and suicide challenges facing communities today.
The presentation was also a moment to reflect on the incredible generosity of the motorsport community. In addition to the monetary donations, a significant amount of food was collected during the OctoberFAST event, further supporting local families in need.
Manawatu Car Club President, Richie Arber, acknowledged Robyn Duncan and the dedicated team at Manchester House for their unwavering commitment to their community. Equally every spectator, competitor, crew member, and supporter who attended a Manawatu Car Club event this year.
“This is about giving back to our community when our community and the families within it need it the most,” said Arber.
“I wish we could do more to help Robyn and her team at Manchester House, the work they do is heroic to say the least, and while I know every little bit counts, I just wish there were a lot more little bits we could give.
“So, we will continue to look for ways to raise more donations of money and food for Manchester House through the events that we run, and we hope that our awesome Motorsport family will continue to support us in doing this.”
With all Manawatu Car Club events free to attend, the Club encourages everyone to come along in 2025/26, enjoy the action, and support the cause with a donation.
Motorsport in New Zealand continues to prove it can be more than just a sport, it can be a powerful force for good.
